I Have Conquered Night Time Eating

As a young woman, I ate lots of snacks at night. I can remember going often to the evening movie with a boyfriend. We would go to get pizza and share a large order of french fries. Oh yeah, I also had a large Coke. No problem with weight. I stayed slim.

The times have changed. In the early 90's I started going to Jazzercise a few times per week in the evening, after work. I got in the habit of skipping snacks. I did not want to "undo" the 60 minute workout I had accomplished.

I got in the habit of snacking at night when my kids were younger. Hubby would buy us snacks, ice cream, etc. and in the evening we would eat them after a big meal. Therefore, I started noticing more belly bulge. Granted, I did have belly bulge after giving birth, but it was more than that. I continued to exercise but due to the amount of calories that I was consuming nothing was working to rid myself of the fat.

After joining Spark People, and reading the articles, I realized that the worst thing I was doing for myself was eating after dinner. Not only did it contribute to me gaining weight. It also caused me not to sleep well or feel well at night. I finally gave up snacking at night. What a difference this has made. I may have a piece of fruit as a piece of dessert - but not cake and ice cream. Snacking does not mean much to me anymore. I do not want to consume empty calories.
