A LONG DAY

Well yesterday afternoon Hubby was cutting our grass as it seemed to have grown 4 inches in the storm. He then was getting the downed fence panels back into our yard. The fence panels are good, the post rotted at ground level. When he was moving one he dropped it on his foot. Thankfully he was wearing his work shoes. He showed me the mark on his foot and that it was bleeding when he took his shoe off. He could not sleep well as it was hurting. He called into work and he finally went to sleep for a while. When he got up off to the clinic. He was going to take his truck. I am okay driving it, but I cannot park it in regular parking lots. I need more room. I told him to take my car in case I had to drive. Well yes I did. They X rayed the foot and did not see any fracture. But swollen and red. They gave h I'm an antibiotic and a pain prescription. The put him in a walking boot and have him off from work until next Friday.
We did not get out until after noon, we had to go by the post office and my car was low on gas. We did not fill it up before the storm because we would be driving his truck when we left. They were asking people to to fill up tanks if they were not going far in the vehicle. They were running low on gas for the evacuating people.
At this time he was hungry, so we stopped at a fish house that runs a special twice a month of 30 pieces of fried shrimp, 2 sides and a drink for 9.99. He got that and we split it. I drink water when we are out. I ate about 8 shrimp, a few fries and most of the slaw. We left there laughing as a couple of years back we would each have our own plate and eat it all. Now it is all we can do to finish this when we split it.
Next stop Publix as we had to toss all the food in fridge and freezer. I had check their ad for specials and sales so we were able to do fairly well. I put have buy one get one free. I purchased carrots, cucumbers, parsnips, lemons and cut fresh pineapple. I had back up mayo, mustard and ketchup in the panty. We will have enough for this coming week. I told Hubby I just wanted to cry throwing out all of the food. I had us where we could go a month or so if necessary with going to the grocery. Oh well, small price to pay to still have a home intact. A number of friends had some major damage. Many were like up and had minor damage and lose of food. I am making a big pot of Chilli which we will have tomorrow and will put 2 containers in the freezer for future use.
