good morning! got my pitchers handled and a tea bowl carved with little turtles. here are some pics of my last few days work. first are some little bottles I did while working on learning to "belly out". I still haven't mastered this very rounded shape, but these are better. at least they stayed together and didn't collapse.
next are mugs, and mugs and pitchers. I tried one of each form in the book, and managed at least an approximation of the shape I was aiming for. the mugs for the most part all turned out pretty close to the book. pitchers weren't as close, and the two shorter ones have the retrofitted spouts after I tore the original ones. I am okay with all of these--they represent a lot of learning on my part, and I got a good bit of practice pulling and attaching handles. I still don't do it well, but i'm learning! the round sponges I use to gently support the handles in the position I like until the clay firms up. more accomplished potters don't seem to have to resort to this (at least not the ones on youtube) but I have to. have a great Friday!
