Out of Africa

Monday, September 11, 2017

Last week was kind of a mess. I was in South Africa (which was lovely!) but it's 26 hours of travel each way, plus jet lag, work stress, and too many social events that I can't really say no to.

1. Too much wine. But GOD I LOVE STELLENBOSCH! ;)
2. Too much food.
3. Not enough exercise.

The upside is there were tons of clearly marked veggie options, which is pretty rare.

I'm back, and feeling very sluggish and fat and off track. And I'm only home for 6 days between trips. But, I am back on track for these 6 days. I went to the store as soon as I got home, made a crockpot full of high protein chili, got some fresh vegetables and fruits, and am drinking water like a freaking fish to detox.

My next trip will probably be a bit better since it's shorter and there shouldn't be as many forced networking parties, but it's more jet lag and lack of kitchen access which makes things very difficult.

After my next trip, though, I'm home for awhile so I can buckle down again.

I'll leave you with a picture of my new best friend. A white rhino from the Tala Game Reserve who walked right up to the car. :) The trip wasn't ALL work, clearly!

Stellenbosch is the best! I drank my weight in wine when I was there. SA is an interesting place isn't it? I loved Cape Town so much, but J-berg was too harsh for me.

Coming to Sri Lanka again any time soon?

Sounds like a great trip. It's so hard to stay on track when vacationing. I think of it as practice, so I do a little better
