monday--vacation is over

good morning! rob went back to work yesterday, he had a nice vacation--we took a little time off and hit the artisan fair in st. joe Michigan, shopped for cars and went to noa noa one night for dinner. the rest of the time we worked on two things--building another work surface for the office--he is planning to work from home more, which is great. I love it when he works from home--the day is so much more relaxed and so is he. I rearranged some stuff, moved the elliptical trainer into my studio (which will become an exercise room when I move my painting stuff into the barn) and freed up some space, so he can have another long workspace on that side of the room. he uses more than one monitor when he works, and this will allow him to position all his stuff to his liking, and leave the regular house computer free during the day. he got the boards and began gluing them together so they can be trimmed to size.
mostly we worked on the barn and we got a ton of stuff done. third window is up, and we have started on the insulation. and the last two days we CLEANED and CLEANED and now nearly all of the misc. stuff that you would throw in an old outbuilding is sorted through and relocated into places that make more sense. we figured out how to insulate the walls without removing the majority of the drywall that my dad hung in there years ago. the eight zillion old shelf units are out of there, waiting to be washed and maybe repainted. they won't all go back in there but some will. chuck is coming to get the old table saw and planer out of there, Breann is taking another of my big airline dog crates, so there is very little left to "rehome". I am beginning to think of it as my workspace now as we solve problems one at a time. the roof is the biggest deal--we haven't started figuring out how to patch the leaks yet, but we have some materials at the ready to try.
we got a quickie reservation the night we finished up the window and headed to warsaw to eat at noa noa. since we can't have pasta it's our new favorite place to go. expensive--but oh so worth it. rob had the shellfish bowl--scallops, shrimp, mussels and clams in a winey broth that he said was delicious. he bravely told the waitress to skip the grilled bread they serve it with--even though I know it about killed him. I had the wood grilled grouper again, and we both had double veggies instead of rice--all wood grilled. and we had a really spicy tiger shrimp with bleu cheese for appetizer--called "blue fire shrimp". the waitress was really sweet--when we were done she told us she had checked with the kitchen to see if they had any simple fresh fruit or something she could offer us for dessert--but there wasn't anything. their desserts are to DIE for, but we didn't get anything. I made mascarpone/blueberry parfaits when we got home. since it's an hour's drive we were ready to have a little sweet after our filling dinners by then.
Breann came yesterday and groomed ralphie and shambles in her "bathmobile". they both are fluffy and pretty now. she is so good at what she does.
taking ralphie to the park today--exercise and park walks got a little discombobulated last week--so we're off this morning. have a great day!
