Hello Everyone!

Sunday, September 10, 2017

I have been gone from here for a while. Six weeks ago I started a Keto/Atkins(low carb) diet. I ate less than 20 carbs per day. Usually less than 10. I have lost 12 pounds in 6 weeks. I didn't measure myself until the third week and haven't measured myself since but I am into a pair of jeans that I hadn't been able to wear for a year so I assume I have lost inches. The problem is that I am struggling with this way of eating. You are supposed to eat mostly vegetables for your carbs and all meat/seafood. I do not like most vegetables and the ones I do like are high in carbs and not allowed. No potatoes, bread, white flour or sugar. Most of the time I have been weak and tired. I have been taking magnesium and potassium and not worrying about my sodium intake because with this diet your body flushes all that out. I have still been bloated and swollen. I have been going back and forth on changing to a 1200 calorie diet which I have lost on many times in the past or staying on keto. I have pretty much decided today that I am going back to 1200 calories a day. The pull to keto is that you don't absolutely have to exercise because your body eats your fat for energy instead of the carbs you eat and your body shrinks. Yes, I know that exercise is good for you and you should do it regardless! I have been pretty much starving for 6 weeks and am kind of sick of not being able to eat like a normal person. I was thinking today that I would have to eat low carb for the rest of my life if I stay on keto and I'm not sure if I could do that! Sooooooooo, I think I have decided to go back to eating around 1200 calories a day keeping my carbs on the lower side and exercising 5 days a week so I guess that I'm back and I'm definitely motivated! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
