Remembering Elvis

Wednesday, August 16, 2017

01/08/1935 - 08/16/1977

After a lot of long research I was able to finally link Elvis Presley to my Hood line. You see my GGGrandmother Amanda Hood and his Grandmother Minnie Mae Hood were cousins, which also makes me and Elvis cousins, but did you know he had a twin brother? His name was Jessie Garon Presley. Stillborn Twin brother of Elvis Presley. He is buried in an unmarked grave in Tupelo, Mississippi. A Cenotaph was placed at Graceland in his memory.

Anyone who heard Elvis sing fell in love with his soft voice and even after his death his music still lingers on. He was one of the most iconic singers in the entertainment industry.

I remember where I was when they announced his death. I was babysitting for Bonnie's children. Rick, Mancy and Gary. I remember Bonnie coming home from work and my telling her about him. She adored his music and as much as I can recollect had been to Graceland before. I was 17 years old when that happened. I'm telling my age now. It has been 40 years since his passing. May he always linger on in our memories.

Thank you Elvis for your beautiful voice. Some of my favorite songs were your gospel renditions of older hymns.

The first pictures is of Elvis. The second one is Vernon Presley (Elvis's Father) Elvis, and his grandmother Minnie Mae Hood (Presley)

Maybe this is why I love to sing so much...one never knows do they?
