Just Shoot Me

Friday, August 11, 2017

Well I feel that way at times. My poor DH has been in the hospital 6 times since he got a stent in May. He is currently in there for his 3rd GI bleed and still no answers. Tonight his GI dr is lucky I didn't totally come unglued and choke him.

He came in to tell us the "bad" news that the nuclear test didn't show the source of the bleed again. Then he proceeded to tell us that we needed to get in ASAP and tell the ER staff to do the test STAT. Yeah, right, they are going to do what we say!! We tell them to notify him, if it is during the day, I call the office to tell them he has another bleed and we are heading to the hospital. I think that is our due diligence. We can't order the test. That is YOUR job. I tried to ask questions and I guess he didn't like that because he then said that DH would not like it if we just took out the colon. Now that I have had a few hours to digest all of this, I am ready to get some answers tomorrow or else we will be moving to GI doc #4. We have already gone thru 2 before this group in the past 5 years.

So far I have managed to get pneumonia - guess I picked up the germ when he was in the hospital in July and was down and out for 2 weeks. He was in last week and I caught a stomach virus and I am extremely careful with touching things, etc. Lots of handwashing, mask, etc. I am normally healthy but spending so much time where there are sick people is not good for anyone.

Wish me luck getting answers for him and keeping him out of the hospital or Just take me out and shoot me!

John's doctor have me call for a test, too. I tried 3 different places! A lost day for me. Each said they could not do it because John can't hold his own weight to stand.

I called the doctor back. He sent us to a specialist and said the specialist could get the test scheduled. They wanted me to call. I said --NO--you call! They did and the test got scheduled!

Live and learn. I don't know why the doctor did not schedule the test in the first place. It took lots of my time and effort and almost a month of delay getting the test done.

The person who did the test said they do this test "all the time" using a patient lift with people who can't stand!

Very frustrating! Sorry you had so many problems. Hope your husband is OK now. emoticon

I am so sorry that you and your hubby are going through so much. It seems odd that the doctor would tell you tto go to the ER. Shouldn't he just order the test? I hope you are able to find a doctor who knows what is going on. Sending healing thoughts your way.

I so understand. I am in and out of the hospital with my wife. It's so hard to deal with all that and do what we need to do to take care of ourselves. I am thinking of you both. May you have answers soon!

Oh, my goodness! Poor DH, having to go through all the suffering, procedures, doctors, and trips to the ER. And poor you, having to be the support system who picks up the "bugs" while being supportive. How frustrating. emoticon I think it's time to get our the photo album and reminisce about the happy memories. emoticon

I know how you feel. My Dh has been hospitalized three times last week for GI bleed. Three upper GI -two colonoscopy- two nuclear- 3D scam - camera pill- ten units of blood. Finally found ting pin hole top of colon In our GI doctors clinic there are 18 doctors about five of them talked to us like we were in the first grade. Our Dr was in Japan If we had not had hospital doctor pushing them to do something we might still be there. I don't know what has happened to medical profession Charlotte Ourelee

That's horrible what he said! No, I don't know of anyone that wants their colon removed. "that DH would not like it if we just took out the colon"

I prayed for the two of you right after reading this. Has Bill had a colonoscopy that showed hemorrhoids or diverticula? I pray that you can find a doctor with some compassion for his patients and their caregivers. What a jerk!
