The Reality of My Cyber SparkFriends to Me!

Tuesday, August 08, 2017

I'm letting all my defenses down right now!

Doing my daily routine in SparkPeople this morning, I was hit by a wave of emotion. It could have been due to the aftermath of my predawn 3.5 Recovery Run where I'm just spent! OR because I'm just a little bit off!

I went through some of my team forums, read comments sent to me,(the thank yous always overwhelm me.) reviewed the Community Feed, (This has become a ritual with me as I love to support and help those who are helping themselves!) and did a bit of data mining on some SparkPeople. I do this with good intention. We all go by "cybernames," but I want to know your real time name, who you are, and what you're dealing with on a daily basis. It helps me in giving better support.

It's one of the reasons, I ask you all to open your SparkPage up to everyone so you get the full support you want or need! It's easier for me when I offer support or share examples of what I do in similar "situations." Whether a relative is not supporting my journey, a coworker tries to steal your dream, or people just want to bring you down to their level of misery, I want you to know I've been there! I want you to know I feel you no matter if you are 10 miles or 10000 miles away!

I care about all of you and want nothing more than for you to be happy and enjoy life. I read about those of you who have been stalled in a plateau, doing amazing things in spite of physical limitations or illness, rising to become better and still caregive for loved ones with positive support. It touches me, inspires me, and motivates me to become better so I can pay it forward with maybe just a single ray of hope. (We sure need love today, that's for sure!)

I can promise you I will have all of you with me as inspiration when I run my 1st Marathon on Oct 22. (Marine Corps Marathon) You will give me the mental strength I need! It's supposed to be one of the most emotional races and I know I will be a totally hot mess when I finish.

The one thing I wish I could do is hug you all and tell you we will do this, we will shine, and we will be victorious on this journey! I hope I can convey that love in this cyber way. No matter what, I support you all. I'm gonna go try to lighten up now!

Stay Strong! No Excuses! Never Quit!

And, without exception, we send those sentiments right back at ya'. I, too, will be cyberly cheering you on during your Marine Corp Marathon October 22nd.

Enjoy your training. I need some willpower or something to combat the work of babysitting two infants especially with all the storms going through.

What a wonderful heartfelt message ... and so refreshing! (I keep my page open always) ... and have my bio ... for any and all to see... No secrets. I also love reading all the responses when I blog .... they mean a lot when a member is able to communicate their feelings and when your blog touched someone. That is awesome and makes it so worthwhile. ..... keep sparking; we love it!

I hope you know how much I'm pulling for you, Monty! You have always been an inspiration to me, and I am going to be busting buttons when you complete that 26.2 in honor of the Marines. How awesome for a wounded warrior to be doing this, and honoring his mates in the process.

You are an incredible source of support for many, and I second your encouragement of others to open their Spark pages and blogs... as that's how I find kindred spirits and offer support, too. Can't give a goodie to someone with a private Spark page!

    Love to all of Spark!

That Marine Marathon sounds amazing. We live in Pace Florida most of the year (near Pensacola) and only a mile from the helicopter training field (Navy). One of the Navy Aviators lives across the street from us, an instructor. We love the patriotism of our friends and neighbors. It's an area with many flags on the homes.

Your words are encouraging. I'm on a perpetual plateau, have lymphodema with so much swelling in the legs. It makes it tough to exercise, so use the chair exercises on SP. Run for me and others like me, it's our inspiration.

I get the same feelings reading blogs and statuses as you do. I know what it feels like to be down on myself so I always want to try to pump up others.

Friday, my daughter's live-in boyfriend accepted a job in Florida. We are in the Chicago area. This morning she texted me that they need to be down there by Sept 11. I felt a kick in the gut. She and I have run a lot of races together. She lives an hour away from me now so it's been hard to spend time together. I'm happy for them and feeling crushed at the same time.

I am training for the Chicago half marathon which is September 24. I don't care much about time, a couple seconds faster is always nice but my main goal is to feel stronger when repeat a race. Last year was my first half and I experienced bad foot pain at mile 8. So I'm really being diligent about different types of running, strength training and stretching.

I started doing the 30/20/10 running method last week. I did it again last night and I think it's improving my stamina. We shall see.

We had such a great day together at this race last year. Now, knowing she won't be there has knocked the wind out of my sails.

You are a powerful force. I love it!

Friday evening we had a sendoff party for my great-nephew. MEPS was yesterday. He's now officially on his way as a Marine. His Marine recruiter was present at the party and commented on how fit I am. Huge compliment! I LOVED it!!! It was especially sweet because I have battled so hard for it.

That Marine Marathon is going to be here before you know it. You'll have many emoticon you on ... emoticon
