August 7, 2017 HUMILITY
If we want to live a life that is pleasing to God, we need to practice putting Him and others first. It is human nature to think about ourselves. It is human nature to focus on us. It is human nature to desire the things we can get out of life. However, God tells us the more we give, the more we will learn the true meaning of life. The more we practice humility, the more we will see His will for our lives. If we want to know what’s it in for us in this life, we will find it when we humble ourselves before God and seek His will.
James 3:13 “If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.” (NLT)
1. List where you put your focus.
2. Write down ways you live to serve God and others.
3. Know God wants you to humble yourself before Him.
4. Pray asking His help to remember to serve Him and others today.
Dear Lord, we know we will never find the true meaning of life without You. Remind us daily we need to seek Your face. We need to humble ourselves before You. We need to serve You and others. When we do these things, we will know what it is You want us to do. When we do these things, we know we will be living in obedience to You and pleasing You. Help us to remain humble and to serve today and every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God wants us to humble ourselves before Him every day.
James 4:10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.” (NLT)
If we want to know what is in it for us in this life, we need to humble ourselves before God and live to please Him.
Philippians 2:3 “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.” (NLT)
Putting others’ needs before our own teaches us to serve and be humble.
Proverbs 22:4 “True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life.” (NLT)
If we want to truly live a humble life, we need to give our entire life to God.
