Random beach thoughts

Friday, August 04, 2017

It was a good time with the three grandkids, and the two sons and their wives. It was a busy, exciting time filled with lots of fun activities.
Now that it's over, my DH and I are taking it easy and feeling good about it all.

We are both very proud of our sons - and the kind of fathers that they are. We told them that, too.

I did hold my weight where I wanted it. It was not difficult. I did not deny myself much. I was satisfied with a taste of this, a mouthful of that, and passing it up just this one time.
Feeling pretty good about me today.

Burning Question: Why is it that men can wear swimsuits that can hang all the way down to their knees?
Women, on the other hand, no matter how old we are, must bare our thighs to the world - sometimes all the way up to our hips!

I am one who is not prepared to share with the world my lumpy, wrinkled, and blue-veined thighs (especially in the back view).

The swim suit skirt bottoms don't really do much to hide them.

Losing weight will not do anything to improve those thighs, either.

This year, for the first time in a long time, I actually went into the water with my grandkids to ride and duck the waves. It was great fun, too! I want to do it again.
I wore shorts over my swim suit to cover my thighs. That looked okay until the shorts got wet.

So, I turned to Google for info - and discovered that there are swim suit bottoms for women that extend down to just above the knees. Many of the swim suits these days have two pieces to them anyway, so you could easily wear the top with those bottoms.

Well, I have bought one - and will probably try it out one of these days when nobody is around
to see.

It's a surfing summer!

Have you seen the speed suits the Olympians wear these days? Long on the legs, covering most of the thigh... compression gear!

"...and passing it up *just this one time.*" Brilliant strategy! I think people get into trouble when they get into a forever mentality. It really is about one choice at a time.

I agree about suits, too. Love to hear more about those suits, and would appreciate pictures. Do you have a link to share?

Glad you had a wonderful time with your family. Those times are so precious!

Sounds like a great bonding experience. I agree about swim suits for women. Most of them are not flattering for adult women. Not everyone wants to let it all hang out. Especially women who are married and have children. We want to swim, not expose ourselves. Good job staying on plan!
