A Bit Of This & That

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

I have been having some pain in my right shoulder, the one that was replaced six years ago. The doctor said that the prosthesis should be good for at least 10 years. Having quite a bit of daily pain recently. I plan to not call the orthopedic's office right away. I hope it will settle down. ugh! I don't need something new during the cataract issues. My next cataract surgery is August 7.

I notice that since one of my cataract surgeries I have one eye and one bad (this is until the next surgery.) I find that one eye has terrific vision and the other is so bad. Now I make many spelling mistakes. It is so difficult to proofread when you can barely see. lol Hope that the next surgery will put me in much better shape.

I went to the gym today. I had a great workout. Tried to be careful with arm exercises...treating it gently. I saw something at the gym today that I have never seen before. A woman was eating a bag of chips while riding an exercise bike. I just thought it a bit odd to be on a piece of workout equipment burning calories, while consuming calories.

Have a great day. I plan to do the same.

Hope your shoulder pain will go away by itself.
Good luck with the eye surgery and here's to good vision!

It must be a bit disorienting to have vastly different vision in each eye.
I hope your "good" eye is healing well, and I wish you the best with your next surgery. Just think of how great it will be when both are done, and you can see clearly again. I read your post in the FlyLady thread about seeing more things after your first surgery. Those dust bunnies will not stand a chance after the next surgery!
Hope your shoulder starts to improve and the exercises help. I've had shoulder issues in the past, and I found that using a balance ball seems to help me stretch out that area nicely and gently. I sit on it and lie back, and then roll it backwards towards my shoulders with my arms hanging towards the floor (so the ball is under my upper back). Good luck!

Hi Linda! I'm sorry about the pain in your shoulder. I'm using a new (for me) device called Quell. No matter where your pain is, you place it around your calf and it sends some pretty strong electrical signals into your nerves which begins the production of your body's natural pain killers. I was extremely skeptical but my DH was so excited and they have a 60 day, no questions asked, money back guarantee - so I got it. In a week it has greatly reduced my chronic back pain and the pain I'm dealing with in my foot since a surgery didn't heal exactly as it should have. Needless to say, I'm convinced. You can, but by no means have to, pair it to your smart phone. I do it because I can always see what's going on without having to look at the device. I got it through Amazon. I'm not being paid to advertise it or anything, I just thought maybe it might help you deal with the pain you're in. If you have any more questions about it, I would be happy to answer an email for you!

As far as eating chips while working out - kind of seems to defeat the purpose doesn't it? But to each their own!

I hope all goes well with the next cataract surgery and the shoulder calms down on it's own.

Sorry to hear your shoulder is bothering you :-( Knee replacements are supposed to last only 12-15 years, and mine is almost 20. On the other hand my elbow replacement only lasted three :-( Who really knows how it will go. Hopefully this issue can be solved in a non-surgical manner.
Channel your inner pirate and cover the bad eye so you can see better. Hopefully the next surgery isn't too far away. Getting cataracts out is like getting laser eye surgery to get rid of wearing glasses. When my stepdad got his out, he said it was like moving from a black and white movie to full color high definition, everything was so bright and clear! He has to wear sunglasses even on overcast days. His eyes must have been really bad.
Good on you going to the gym in spite of the painful shoulder! That is just plain weird eating while exercising to start with.. Bet a photo of that would have gone viral on the internet lol.
You are doing awesome! Keep up the great work!

I hope your shoulder eases! And hang in until the other eye is done... I bet it's kind of odd with 1 good, 1 bad... makes me think of the angel/devil on the shoulder kind of thing!

Can't wait to hear about your vision progress! Mom's first cataract surgery is tomorrow. How long did it take the blurriness to go away from the first eye?
