Hunger, Desire and Cravings

Wednesday, July 26, 2017

I did write a post about this topic on my blog sometimes back.

Now, because I do intermittent fasting I am able to differentiate between when I am hungry, desiring a food or craving.

Craving - l don't normally crave foods, maybe I crave carbs during some times within my cycle. I am not sure if what happens to me fits into the correct definition of craving. Because all I want is to keep eating carbs and immediately I am okay, I go back to eating normally.

Desire - Yes, I desire food when I see pictures or when I want to try my hands on a new recipe.

Hunger - I know hunger, and it is not by the growl in my tummy. I feel hunger at the back of my throat, it's a sensation, a feeling in my head, an occupation on my mind. I don't allow any part of my body dictate hunger to me, not even a shaky body. I do fast so I have facts and know what hunger is about. I realized that the first feeling of comes naturally 13 hours after my night meal, if I wish to eat at that point I do if not I extend the fast till I am ready.

It's a good thing to know these three and their differences so that we become more disciplined.

It is good to know - I never thought of this before reading Beck Diet Solution.

I used to believe "I'm Thinking of food" = "I'm hungry" = "I have to eat immediately"...
    Did not go well.
