Day 54 of 100 Days of Gratitude

Friday, July 14, 2017

I didn't intend to organize the event, but it ended up that way. And I had been excited -- floating on a cloud as I called each person and urged them to attend the event. and they said, "Yes!" Only one couldn't attend (and the two who are deceased). They were coming from as far as CT and CA! But as the day drew closer, I realized it was going to be really awkward & probably boring.

I don't have anything in common with these people, I'd moved away many, many decades ago and a lot of them hadn't moved 3". I disagreed with them on really important life issues about which I am passionate (like sign-holding, demonstrating passionate!)! It was going to be t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e!

I love it when I'm wrong. (which happens frequently) It was fabulous! All but one of the 14 students who were in the same class for 12 years attended our __th reunion! (Nope, I told you I'm not telling how many decades...but it's a bunch, baby, a whole bunch!!) We didn't talk politics, religion, what's wrong with the world or even once pull out our cell phones! (A miracle, eh?)

Instead we told stories of our school days! Tricks we pulled on teachers, school plays, our first dates, teachers who "spanked" high school athletes with paddles (I was aghast!). But mostly we just laughed... and laughed.... and laughed until we had to hold on to our chairs.

It was the greatest experience every. I could not be more grateful!

That was one fantastic reunion -- and they usually are so boring with the planned banquet dinner, etc. I skipped mine. Now I wish I hadn't. So glad you enjoyed it so much after all your hard work!

This is fabulous and shows that sometimes we can all get along - even if our politics differ!
