It's week two of the 5% challenge and this $#!+ just got real

Monday, July 10, 2017

So, week two challenge for the 2017 Summer 5% Challenge started Saturday, so in addition to drinking 8 cups of water a day, we need to track all of our food, and stay within our calorie range. Since this is my second blog post on the topic in as many days, obviously this is an important and difficult issue for me.

Yesterday my plan was to make a protein packed salad with chicken and black beans. After 45 minutes of hard core water aerobics I was feeling the effects combined with the prior days exertions and I caved in to fast food. Not choose a healthy fast food option, but a deep fried and creamy comforting collection of pretty much empty calories. But I tracked it all and stayed within my calorie range, so I got to post the 10 points for my Tiger Monarch team.

And yet even as I type this out, shame is stopping me from posting the actual meal to you. So I decided this morning that I needed to be accountable to myself. Let's face it, unless your 8 feet tall you don't weigh over 300 lbs at some point and not have a bushel of unhealthy food habits.

So starting with breakfast this morning, every meal and snack eat I am going to take a picture and track before eating it. Bonus points for not eating in bed!

Recognizing where you're at and taking steps in the right direction are all in your favor. You are on the right track! Thanks for being honest. You are going to get there!

I hear your frustration. Maybe a planned snack for after exercise that will hold you till you can get a planned and healthy meal. I used to take an apple with me, Lots of chewing satisfaction.

You can do this!!! I have been doing this since July 5 2008. I don't think I have missed a single day tracking my nutrition and before my fitness tracker I tracked all my fitness. I also weigh and measure my food STILL!!
Of course I started at 325 lbs and when I saw the success I was having I decided to keep doing what I learned with spark.
You can and will do this. Your life depends on it. I think you have a plan and it will work!

Way to go by holding yourself accountable.

I'm finding tracking is still a huge struggle for me. I'm afraid I'm not doing much for the team this week in that regard.
