July 9, 2017 BE STRONG

There will be times in our lives where we are discouraged and choose to do something that is not really such a good idea. There will be times when we speak out with the wrong words because we feel bad and want others to feel bad as well. We can prepare ourselves to be strong in those discouraging times so we don’t make wrong choices. Satan is ready and waiting on us to be discouraged so He can use us to do wrong. We need to be strong and stay in God’s word so we recognize when we are being tempted and turn from those temptations.

SCRIPTURE:
1 Corinthians 16:13 “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. List times when you were discouraged.
2. Write down what actions you took or words you said.
3. Know God wants to help you be strong when discouraged.
4. Ask Him to prepare you now for the right things to say and do.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, show us how to prepare ourselves now for discouraging times so we remain strong in Your word. We don’t want to take wrong actions or say bad things just because we are down and out. We want You to help us stay strong and quickly move out of our discouragement so we can encourage others rather than bring them down as well. Help us, we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
God wants to prepare us right now to be ready for the next time we are discouraged.

Reading God’s word and remembering it will help us when we get discouraged.

God can help us be strong in His word and prepare our hearts to be encouraged in any situation.

When we focus on God and His blessings, we will be encouraged and strong.

God is able to do anything. When we are discouraged, we should stay focused on Him and allow Him to help us.

FOCUS:
Ephesians 6:10 “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” (NLT)

God calls us to be strong in Him so He can use His power to help us when we get discouraged.
