Monday, Monday, what you bring,
Another trip to Storm Lake, that's my thing.
Hubby has therapy, I'll go to the store,
he's out of milk, and I have to get some more,
Before he has a coronary, as they say,
Got to keep that man hap-pay.

Yes, he has therapy today so hopefully tomorrow being a holiday and all does not get me thinking it is Saturday again this week. I hate it when it isn't the day you think it is. Right now hubby is reclining in the chair in the formal living room SNORING. Yes, it is 10 am and he is taking a nap. He will miss his after dinner nap cause his therapy is at 12:30, his usual nap time. Better check and make sure the I am taping my soap, that would really upset me.

I really have to GET at this 5% challenge, I need to start to plan better meals, like that cole slaw, really that is not a very good choice, but hey, when it from your own garden and it taste sooooooooo good, how can you say no, and just have boiled cabbage, with a touch of vinegar. That's good also, but nothing like fresh cole slaw. And then I have to stay away from the pick-ups at every corner selling sweet corn. I do get my veggies, not just the good ones, can't hardly wait for green beans out of the garden, that will be the next veggie out of the garden. Then have to wait for the egg plant, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes, . oh, forgot the cantaloupe. That will be wonder. Always something to look forward to. I didn't plant any carrots this year, as a matter of fact, with all that was going on at that time with hubby, I am surprised I even have a garden, but thanks to S1 who insisted on tilling it, and making it look so good, how could I not plant it. He told me that I had better use it, and if I didn't I would regret it and he would be very disappointed in me. So it hadn't been for him I probably wouldn't have a garden and I would have really missed it. so Thanks a million for sons. They all played there part, in his recovery, and my sanity.

Well, I have to GET at it, I have to wash my hair before I have to fix us a bit of dinner and off to town, AGAIN. I really am getting tired of going to town everyother day. It is not my thing.
Take care and have a GET day. Linda

You are doing so well dear's extremely hard to be the only one doing things. I'm praying that Larry recovers more so he can help more. The farm life is NOT and easy life with two people working at it..not just one. I hope his brother is helping you out. Hugs and blessings to you my friend!

How nice that your son was so thoughtful. Gardens are a lot of work, but, when your produce is ready to be picked, it worth it. Take care!!!

Awwww the rewards of harvest. Great isn't it? I know all the hard work that goes into it, all the weeding, watering, watching for pest and such. But when you taste that first meal of green beans, or a salad with the lettuce from the garden freshly washed, and cucumbers from the garden there is nothing like it. Just like farm fresh eggs. My husband cannot tell the different in farm fresh and store bought eggs, but I can. When I get the produce from the farmer's markets takes me back to my childhood. Thanks for the memories today, and enjoy the rewards from your garden.

This is our second year in a row to opt for no veggie garden. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon MrV does know the value of giving each little patch a year off; however, we figure that if one is good, two must be better. emoticon Seriously we figure that it is cheaper & a lot less trouble to purchase from the many farmer's markets in our area. However, I must admit that I rather miss the cherry tomatoes; although a dear neighbor always shares his crop of cherry tomatoes & homegrown carrots with us, it is not at all like going out & picking them straight from the vine or from the earth & having them with whatever meal is next. Even when we had our own garden, that neighbor insisted on sharing with us (I believe he does so as a thank you for help my beloved MrV gives him throughout the year). God bless them both!

I know how you feel about traveling so often into town. Be thankful it is only every other day & not everyday! Before my cherished MrV took early retirement some years back now, I used to have something going on every day of the week (M - F & on Sundays) & quite frankly I enjoyed it, where if I had kept it up, I wouldn't be enjoying the go-go-go of it now-a-days. I was so happy to have a legitimate reason for cutting back. And what better reason than the fact that I rather spend the time with the love of my life?

I so agree with you in being so very eternally thankful for the great pleasure & blessing of the Lord God in giving us stewardship over the children He entrusted to our care. Actually, it goes well beyond blessing, when one realizes what fine, compassionate, caring, loving, thoughtful, etc. (the list is unending) people those children have grown into.

    God bless!

P.S. I assume that Larry is making great strides with the PT sessions? I hope he is! Seems he is holding his own in many areas. We Visions continue to remember him in prayer for total healing.

I miss my garden too. YOu could make the non-miracle whip slaw with vinegar, sugar and celery seed.

Fresh produce out of the garden is the best. I've been picking raspberries lately and I have peppers that are looking good. I see my beans and potatoes are blooming.
I'm with you on going to town everyday. I like being home and doing my thing. Have a good day and I hope your trip to Storm Lake goes well.

No more garden for me - my hubby used to make me put up so much and take care of the garden without help. He would plant, but I had to do the rest. If I hadn't been trying to do all that on top of working full-time plus, I might not be so burned out on it.

Makes me miss my garden, but we've had such lousy luck with the plants over the past few years. I think it's been 4 years since I really had good crops. But I will go to the farmer's market and get fresh that way!

I just made the bread pudding - yesterday simply got away from me. My son is stopping by for Lunch so we will have a nice dessert! I'll let you know how it turns out - I'm not the best cook but I sure have been trying lately.

WHAT I wouldn't give to drive down my country road and stop at the farm stands and buy whatever. Usually on the honour system...a little basked there for money. One farmer's wife would make homemade pies and put them out another made bread...still warm, believe it or not. I did get a few apple pies one time but they went like crazy. A lot of work for not much money. Sometimes the kids sell Kool aid or homemade lemonaid .. and always the sweet corn when it was in. YUM.

THANKS....Ahhh memories, you always take me down my memory lane.
