Day After Helena's Birthday Update
Wednesday, June 28, 2017
The different stories that I heard about the "alleged shooter" on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL and getting more and more worried about my granddaughter being at the daycare near the scene that was cordoned off, the 6 pm news announced that no shooter was found.
My blood pressure had shot up when I went to the doctor after getting Helena. She did tell me that she heard an alarm and saw a lot of police officers in her building as they took the kids to a safe room. The teachers said that singing "Happy Birthday" helped the kids out. It was something to keep them occupied. My stomach is still in knots this morning and not letting me too far from the bathroom.
I thank God my daughter was sent to Virginia for her work this week. She would have been even closer to the situation than Helena was. I thank God that the teachers were great with the kids. Helena didn't seem traumatized a bit. I thank everyone who said prayers for me.
My gut tells me that there's a story there that we will never know. With the Missiles and Defense Department is there, the US control room for the Space Station, and other important work that is mostly top secret, I understand that there are things going on that we are not told. We don't need to know everything and the rest of the world definitely doesn't need to know these things. I am glad that if my loved one had to be put in this situation that it happened there. The personnel at Redstone Arsenal are highly trained and responded quickly and correctly. God bless the people that sign up to do this work.
