Saturday morning chatter

Saturday, June 17, 2017

Great news, it is the week-end. But not any difference here, still have to do most of the daily jobs. We did get a trace of rain last night, many storm around us, even a couple of tornadoes, but by the time it got to us it had fizzled out and I think we get 2 drops in the rain gauge. And just got another little shower just a few minutes ago. So that means we can't work on those big branches out on the lawn, but we are both tired, so it is our day off. Even though I slept 91/2 hours last night I could really fall asleep writing this, so if you see a pause here you will know I couldn't get those peepers to open.

It was a good day yesterday, even though we had to go to Storm Lake for therapy, I had to go to the dreaded Walmart while he was at the torture chamber, his name for therapy, to get dog and cat food, some milk, and got a new bra, was down to 2 and with the heat and sweating, every time I turned around I was having to hand wash one for the next day, and hope they got dry before morning. Got home and had to unload all those 44# bags, Larry did help carry in the light bag, with the help of his cane, but there is no way he can handle the heavy stuff, that I have to do now. And therapy really tires him out, and really makes his back hurt, so have to be careful what he carries. I feel that today is going to be a lazy day, and I am going to take advantage of it. I can't see anything that can't wait until another day, I have decided that I need to lighten up a little and not run around like a chicken with it,s head cut off, there is another day, and if not, who's going to see it anyway. Maybe I'll just help Larry figure out how it get that extra step on that John Deere tractor, if that helps him be safer then that is what we will do, and besides I love doing projects with him.

Well, Larry has gone into town, for the second time this morning to see his crony's at the welding shop. He really enjoy the freedom of being able to drive into our little town, it is only about 2 miles, and he really didn't need a Dr. approval, it is PT that was in charge of his driving, and they said it was fine as long as he didn't over do it, and I don't think that 2 miles is going to tire him out. I can't see him driving a couple of hours but for 5 minutes he can handle. I think he feels more independent, and more like the man he always has been, but I still am not use to the 45# weight lose, and the fact that I have to open those jar lids now.

Going to let you go, and you all have a GET weekend, and don't forget about some ME time in there. Linda

Driving definitely makes a person independent, so it's good to know that two miles is manageable. Do you have a hand truck? It would make moving heavy bags much easier. With your bad shoulder, you need to be careful, so don't be too proud to ask someone at the store to help you get your purchases to the car. That will help you preserve your strength. Take care!!!

Certainly Larry's being able to get out on his own is important to his sense of well being & recovery. I was thinking about my having said that no one "needs" to go for coffee so often & now I feel that I must correct that thought, because maybe the Larry's of this world do need that sort of stimulation = it was obviously something he needed & enjoyed all along. My Dad's sister & her husband were the same in their need for outside the home socializing & after my Uncle's death, she continued with their daily rounds of socializing until she had to go into a home some four months before her death. Still, I stand by my thought, that no one should demand that "need" in themselves at the physical & emotional expense of another. I really do not believe that that was how your Larry was viewing it = probably his need stemmed from desiring life to get back to as close to the old normal as possible, as fast as possible. Bottom line: I am so happy for y'all to have figured it out on your own, Linda!

I hope you are savoring each moment of your "day off"!

    God bless!

A down day is good. Make it a ME day, or at least partially one.

Take advantage of the day off and instead of sweeping through the house doing everything all at once, just do one or two things between rests or during a commercial. Nobody is going to care if your nightstand is messy or a bra is hanging on the line. It is YOUR home and you can decide what is important.

I agree with Larry's name for Physical Therapy. Last week I told Jerusha that she was just mean! BUT, I am so much better by her pushing and I work hard at home too.

I think it's a good idea for you to let a few things go for awhile. You have been doing 2 + people's jobs for some time now. You don't want to be exhausted!

I think I'll take a nap for you Linda. I did also get 9 hours of sleep, but not good sleep which makes me tired today. You make me tired with all you have done already, and I'm sitting here on this computer. I feel guilty. I know I should be doing something, but I just don't want to.

Take care today and hope you get some me time and maybe a quickie nap. That sounds good. Hmm I hear the bed calling me.
