Why and how do you get things to work right? I did 11 flights of stairs, get done my Fitbit only says 5 floors on it. I went from the basement to my 10th floor. No where can I find a way to correct this error. Then my Fitbit registers my steps here is the picture to show you

My spark gives me this

Big difference will not sinc or let me correct it anywhere on Spark, I work hard at doing this and two thing gets me upset, the scale not moving when I do work out and my spark page not sinking right with Fitbit and not showing if it can be corrected. Makes a big difference in my graphics and my goals, just wish there was way to make it right, would feel better for sure.
Thanks for this page to vent nothing else I can do.

Sorry can't read the spark totals, it says 6940 for steps for the day.

I have had same issue with Fitbit not tracking my walking all over the store - Walmart, groceries etc. and it's from the FitBit arm resting on cart handle. I have better results when I tuck my FB inside my sock!! I have also seen a deal that is essentially a little bag holder to slip through your shoe laces and put your trackers inside it. Amazon has them, I think allegedly for Withings trackers. But measurements indicate that it would be big enough for the FitBit Charge 2 tracker (after you detach from the wristbands.). I might get one when price go down lower.

I also have a staircase but in my house the railing I use is on my right side, going up, and I wear my FB on left arm (non-dominant.). So it hasn't been too much of an issue. I also have some elevations in the terrain outside where I walk...and there have been times when I got to, walked downstairs, out the door, did my walk, came home, and already had 2-3 "flights" recorded before I ever went back upstairs in my own home! I agree with @Brooklyn_Born's comments. I'm mostly using it as a reminder, but otherwise it's a "random number generator"!

It can be frustrating. But, remember, Fitbit is just a tool to help motivate you to be more active throughout the day. I have a flight of stairs in my house and I go up and down regularly. It doesn't always register, especially if I pause pet the cat or am carrying something. This is part of the reason I only have my flight goal set to 10. If I have to go up and down a couple more times to hit the goal, I do so.

I am not sure those fitbits are accurate all of the time. I just wrote a blog about the same thing. I don't know how to restart the fitbit.

Maybe I will wear it on my foot and see what happens, lol

I agree that if you hold the rail you won't register anything because your arm has to swing for it to register. I would be really upset, too.

The technology is not up to real life yet! Many expert exercisers do not use them anymore as they will not show some of the things they like to do. If you just input your exercise on spark with no Fitbit it might work better for you.

I think it may have to do with the amount of stairs you climb. The stairs in my home are five or six steps to a landing and then another 5 or 6 steps to top floor. My fitbit does not recognize floors until I get to the top. If I stop on the landing it does not register as a floor. Not sure how many steps up you are taking. Hope this helps. No matter how many flights of stairs you take or register...keep on moving! Your reward will eventually come in the form of weight loss!

Also, I've had to re-authorize my fitbit on SP to get it to sync several times. Best wishes for your continued healthy ways!

Your body knows what you did even if our devices don't.
Your weight, measurements and other NSVs are the best measure of progress toward your goals.

I gave up my device when it was so severely overestimating my calories burned that I could have easily been tempted to overeat. I know that a 1 mile run = 100 calories and walking a little less.

I had my weight set correctly at 135 so my morning 5 milers would be 500 calories or less.
The fitbit was giving me more than double that. That kind of help I don't need.

    Good luck.

I have a fitbit charge hr If I have trouble syncing I restart my fitbit If that doesn't fix it I disconnect from spark people Then I reconnect to Spark people About stairs it counts the rise in elevation not the descending steps... Best wishes!

My sister had the same problem, she discovered that for her it was due to the fact that when she went up stairs she held onto the railing with the same wrist that her fit bit was on & it had a hard time getting an accurate read.
