Some successes and not. I *did* go to the medical fitness center on Sunday, as intended. Even though the one-on-one orientation was nearly 2 hours long, the workout took only 50 minutes, so I could have gone on Saturday after all.

The exercises all seem so simple, but I can really feel the stretch in my muscles on some of them. The one thing I couldn't do was stand from the bench, then sit. I simply had too much pain in my hip.

Also, the music seemed so loud, plus the wide screen was turned on (not very loud). Other than having my teeth drilled without an anesthetic, this is the worst kind of torture for me. For reasons I don't understand, my sister and I are both extremely sensitive to sound (my father was, too), and it can sometimes be very painful. They did turn the music down but, of course, had to keep it on for the other clients - all both of them in the room I was in.

Today I went to an electronics store and bought a new pair of large headphones (the foam in the ones I had from several years ago was crumbling). I didn't get the ones I really wanted, which were about $300, but I'm hoping the cheaper ones that I got will work - especially if I listen to a symphony at full volume.

Meanwhile, I was fairly proud of myself because I ate a variety of veggies last night - in scrambled eggs with cheese - and had a big salad when I came home today. I haven't stopped the sweets - YET - but being full of veggies helped me cut down on them.

I'm planning to go the the fitness center tomorrow evening rather than to rehearsal, which is being held in an inconvenient place. Shhhhh, don't tell them. I've also written down the times on my calendar that I want to go for a workout. Having it on my calendar will make it seem less like it's a choice to go or not to go - just a scheduled activity.

That's interesting to know, JeanKnee. Better nutrition is a big challenge at the moment with a schedule that's all over the place (including two extra classes a week until September that involve a long commute by subway) and so on. I will say, though, that I've been doing better at consuming more fruit and veggies the past couple of weeks. Eventually I'll have time to record my food intake on SparkPeople, as I had been doing regularly quite some time ago.

Thanks to everyone for your encouragement!

    You're doing great!

I am very sensitive to sound too and also light. It is a form of sensory overload for me that can be quite distressing. Malls are nearly intolerable for me. As my nervous system has been provided with better nutrition, I seem to tolerate sound and light better.
