I am grateful.

This morning when I stepped on the scale, I had lost weight. And, I was grateful. Over the course of the last three weeks, I always thought I would gain a pound or two. You see, three weeks ago today, I had surgery and have been on restrictive activities since then.
As the day has gone by, I kept thinking of other things I am grateful for: an excellent doctor; great health insurance; paid leave from work; a body that is healing; friends, family and a husband who loves me.
However, on the top of my gratitude list is being diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 28 years old. I am so grateful that the cancer was found and the treatment has been successful (cross my fingers and knock on wood.) At 56 years of age, I have now lived over half my life since being diagnosed. It has not always been easy or fun. I remember thinking how much I just wanted to live. And, I have done just that – I have lived an amazing life filled with adventure, fun, love, and friendship. I am grateful for the life I have lived.
Today, as a somewhat pudgy 56 year old, post-menopausal, getting ready for retirement female, I am grateful for having time: time to live, time to plan for the future, time to enjoy life.
I am so grateful for time.
