Yo yo numbers

Thursday, June 08, 2017

I'm working hard on getting my GD numbers, trying to sort out why my numbers are high when they are, and why they are good. Due to some insurance problems, I will probably NOT see the nutritionist tomorrow. *sighs* Insurance is a pain. But I will get there. My high# for the day was 147, and I'm guessing it was because of the white rice.
Most people in the house dislike whole grain rice, which I don't understand. But we'll figure it out.
My water has been good; 6 cups today. I'm thinking of joining the no sugar challenge, but I know from trying it before that it's hard with so many people in the house. I have been doing my best to reduce (not eliminate, not yet! I tried that once, it backfired) my sugar intake. I'm having some cravings, but not too bad. So I think I'm on the right track.
I've been eating at home more; PBJ has become a standard lunch. I have such a hard time coming up with good lunch ideas!
Hope you all are doing well!

The last time I was at the grocery store, I noticed a package of a rice mix. It had white, red, wild and one more but I can't remember what it was, maybe brown. Would something like that work? Maybe if you gradually changed the mix. Or rice freezes well. You could make a big batch and bring out your portion when you serve the others white. Good luck!!

You are trying very hard. 147 1s high but not very high. Try looking in your meal planner and turning on the meal planner at the bottom. It will give you some ideas. I find for my self a salad and some croutons or crackers is a good lunch. You could also try some cottage cheese on a couple lettuce leaves, some tomato and a serving of fruit. I like raspberries. You are trying and you are helping your baby.

147 is not bad at all! I didn't know you were pregnant again! Congrats! Sorry to learn about the diabetes tho. But, you can handle this! Reducing the sugar is your best bet if the household makes it too hard for you to eliminate it! I fix salads in sealable containers and add tuna or chicken to them for a lovely low carb lunch! I love wraps too.... Whole grain tortilla with turkey, chicken, egg salad or tuna in it. For the tuna I usually just drizzle some lemon juice on it or I make an actual tuna salad with a small amount of mayo. Wishing you the best!!

Don't get discouraged. With Spark People's help you can work through this. They give you great ideas on meals and/or foods that raise or lower your blood sugar. Everyone here is waiting to encourage you to keep on keeping on. Spark Diets are good but you can always modify if there is something on there that you just don't like or can't afford.

I wish my blood sugar levels were 147! That's not high compared to my numbers. This morning my levels were 273!! You're doing something right, so keep it up! Sorry to hear about the insurance. You can find diabetic menus here on SP. I use them some times & modify when it's an item I don't eat or can't afford. emoticon
