Are You Afraid Of Your Wardrobe?

Wednesday, June 07, 2017

I know I am. How many of us have lost weight already? emoticon I have, and I'm pretty sure all of you have already. Now.. my quandary is buying clothes. I still keep wanting to buy a bigger size even though I've lost 2 sizes.

Why can't my mind get in the groove of my body? I gave away 2 bags of clothes yesterday. Boom!!!! Out of the closet they went and to other family members. Out of sight, out of mind right?

WRONG!!!! Now.. I have lost and I have had to buy new things but somehow my mind needs to catch up and quick or I'm going to be paying more money (yes the average cost per plus size is approximately $5.00 more per piece and that can add up).

Here's an example of the price difference per piece. This shows you the difference between a 1x and a 2x.

It's a feel good kinda thing. It's an accomplishment yet my mind plays tricks on those types of things. What do you mean you have lost a size?

emoticon emoticon emoticon
Okay this is my sound off for the day.. Anyone else go through this or is it just me??????

Just for kicks ~

    Congratulations on your weight loss.
I suggest as others have, thrift store, resale shops.
    I went from a 4X to an 8.
Of course there were many size adjustments.
I originally thought as thrift store as a temporary fix.
But as I found the joy of shopping again, I discovered that I could find the most beautiful, amazing clothes at a ridicules low price. Especially using senior discount. I have blogged about my being Queen of Thrift.
So instead of spending a thousand on a new wardrobe when I reached my goal weight, I thrift shopped. Picking upscale shops, and believe me as one who used to spend a few thousand a month on clothes, I dress just as good now and no one is the wiser, unless I tell them. And sometimes I do, when a friend compliments me, I love seeing their face when I tell them I got
a two hundred dollar dress for $5.00.
So check out your area shops, you might be surprised what you find.
Good luck and keep up the good work.

Check out the thrift stores and also church "bazaars" - until you get to goal and have maintained for a few months they are a good source for "good buys!" Saves on the emoticon !!

I really want to buy some fresh new clothes showing off my new size, but don't want to spend the money hoping that they will soon be too big to wear. So, I found a couple cute things at the thrift store to give me the in- between. I am going to keep my largest pair of pants that I had as a reminder of where I don't ever want to be again! OK, it is also fun to put it on to see how much room there is inside of them now! The kids were rolling their eyes at me as I was walking around the house gleefully giggling at the difference.

I buy leggings and yoga pants as I am retired and can wear what I want! The bigger shirts that I keep until they are falling off me look better with leggings. :)

Our minds are a fickle thing. They like the normal or what they are used to and feel like we are rocking the boat bringing something different into the mix. However that being said, if you will look at yourself in the mirror in the comfortable baggy clothes your mind is used to and then try on the new clothes in a smaller size. Your mind says "WOW" I look good in this. Your mind then sees this as a reward and wants more. When we reward ourselves our brains produce the feel good hormones and wants more. It then becomes a little easier to get our brains out of the mindset that smaller and new is better.
Oh and I love shopping the thrift stores as well. If I take a bag of old clothes and donate them at the same time I do not feel so guilty at buying the new ones.
God bless you and keep you on your journey! Have a fabulous day!

I went through this when I lost the first time around and when I gained, I kept all the clothes I had in smaller sizes so now, aside from a new piece or two, I just have to go through my things. I tend to wear bigger, baggier clothing though because to me it's more comfy than having tight, pinching clothes.

I hung on to my larger sizes for about a year, but then realized I was defeating my accomplishment. Gave them all away, and didn't think of the cost of purchasing a new smaller size.

Best decision for sure, now I can go in and pick anything there and it fits well and looks good. The money spent was so worth it.

Unfortunately now some are too big and I've only worn a time or two. So I'm back to my thrifty ways. I don't feel so guilty when I lose the weight and get rid of them.

I love to go to thrift shops and get clothes. While I may not have the latest fashions, I get some great clothes at a much more reasonable price. I bought new clothes 1 1/2 years ago and spent a fortune.

I guess I don't give it too much thought ..... I just buy what I need and like one said, there are some really good sales going on right now ....... Oh ... when my body speaks up and says .... blah blah ... I just say, 'Hey this is the new me ......you will get used to it!" ...... emoticon Good job on losing two sizes!

My niece was afraid I would lose my slacks walking if I did not get some that fit. I was like you and could not believe I had lost that much weight.

A trick I found helpful was to take pics in outfits in dressing room. Surprised to look then at pics as I believed the pics better than the dressing doom mirror and could better tell if clothing fit. Plus could see from all angles.

Beets wishes. Baggy clothes add to feeling can overeat. Rock those new clothes.

You are not alone. I am in maintenance, but sometimes the brain goes into the mode of seeing the "old" me vs. what I am today. The brain is a funny thing! It does take time for the brain to catch up as you transform. Keep going!

It may sound crazy snd I might be shooting myself in the foot by doing this but I keep clothes in every size I have ever worn. I fluctuate so that I am scared to get this of anything.,😞
