Slowly, slowly, I've come to accept my real size (gee thanks, doctor's scale, I was having fun being deceived by my bathroom scale!) and have stopped beating myself up over it.
The bathroom scale was re-calibrated and was showing the same weight at the doctor's scale that same day, so I'm far more inclined to trust it now. I've lost 9 pounds since then, putting me down to 236. I have such a long way to go, but I just have to keep reminding myself that I've come this far already! If I'm 236, my biggest weight must have been far bigger than I'd originally thought. There's no way I was under 300 back then!!
The best part is that ever since that same doctor appointment where my husband stepped on the scale, he's now serious about his weight and his health. He joined MyFitnessPal and has been faithfully tracking his macros every day, and in a little over two weeks he's lost five pounds. It's SO NICE to have him on the same page as me now, being more careful about snacks and takeaway and not encouraging me to have ALL THE JUNK! I'm really proud of him!
The Spring 5% Challenge is over now, and I've been sincerely congratulating myself for making it through. Sure, I didn't manage 60 minutes of exercise 7 days a week; that was incredibly optimistic of me. However, I built some wonderful, healthy habits, including at least 10 minutes of exercise every single day--though I generally aimed for 40-60 minutes for the majority of the week. That's absolutely huge for me, since I've always had issues with exercising at all.
I've learned so, so much during these past eight weeks, and I'm quite excited about the upcoming Summer Challenge. I'm still unsure if I lost 5% or not, since the scale was lying to me through the majority of the challenge so I'm not sure what my starting weight was! But I'm sure I've lost a good deal, if those most recent 9 pounds are any indication.
I decided to reward myself after all, although it was a different one than the one I'd originally planned. I've purchased some new clothes!
To make room for the new additions, I went through my wardrobe and pulled out anything I no longer loved. I tried these pieces on, noting how I felt in them and how they fit me. Some of them were impulse buys, others were when I was being too optimistic about how big something looked but didn't try it on in the store. Fortunately I never paid much for any of the pieces, since I'm a passionate lover of clearance racks and charity shops. It feels nice to be building a wardrobe of items I love and that I feel amazing in.
Time to go do a bit of exercise today. My body is thanking me for the Spring challenge, and I'm going to continue to give it reason to thank me in-between challenges!
