That snack eating monster returned! What happened? I crossed over to the other side of health and wellness, Dagnabbit! I was seduced by the appetizers at DS2s.....I'd forgotten how hard this part of family food events are for me....or minimized how strong their power over me can be.
If I had stuck just to the dinner meal only, I finish the day at 1249 calories. The appetizers, once tracked added on another 1100 calories!
What are my take aways from this experience?
I'm completely vulnerable....better figure this out, because it's an unnecessary setback to Plan.
What is the how?
I didn't go there hungry, that was a step in the right direction.
Were there some snacks to avoid? Yes, yes and yes again.
Were any of the snacks healthy snacks? No, there wasn't a vegetable or a piece of fruit to be found. All of it was fattening. Even limiting myself to tasting 1 of everything would have totaled about 250 calories, putting me on the high end of my daily food calorie allowance, and then there is the big looming question -- can I stop just 1? Likely the answer is a no.
For me, my only doable strategy: Next time offer to bring a healthy snack and only eat that, and if not, have nothing, and don't even start sampling appetizers. And drink water, not an alcoholic beverage.
At least yesterday I got in an 1-1/2 of extra calorie burn from gardening to help offset my food indulgences.
Enjoyed some nice family time.
Get back to the basics of my Food Plan.
