31 days in ---- thoughts

So I have been in the process of getting myself back together for 31 days. It has be tough to say the least, but I have noticed it is different than my past attempts. I'm finding this time around....doable.

So here are my 2 changes--

1--I have thrown out the comparisons, I am now only competing with myself. Trying each day to do a little better, and each week to exercise a little more.

No longer am I trying to do what someone else does, or look like someone else--It has taken me almost 40 years to recognize that I do my best when I push for me.

Having fibro I am unable to do what healthy people can, and if I do too much I will land myself right back in bed doing nothing--no one wants that! So I do what I can, I walk my dogs every day, which is 10-15 minutes, and I go for a walk after breakfast 10-15 minutes, and 1 more in the afternoon or evening. 3 walks, getting me 30-45 minutes of exercise a day. There are some days, when time is so crunched I only get the dogs walked, but I try to find other little ways to add in steps( I love my fitbit).

I am happy to say that I have increased my daily step total from 5k/day to 6k, and plan on raising it to 7k next month.

2--My mind has shifted from get skinny to get healthy.I have thrown out the all or nothing mentality, which is where I would get stuck before. I feel as long as I am making positive steps/changes everyday I am getting there
I strive everyday for 5 freggies, and 100oz of water. I know that if I cannot control anything else, as life has a way of throwing the occasional curve ball, I can always control what & how much, goes into my mouth.

I have also become a label reading machine, and this has helped my get the most nutritional food for my calorie buck. It has also helped me start buying food that I truly enjoy.

Like berries with whipped cream, I now only use Dean's or Reddi Whip whipped cream because the ingredients are healthier. Or only Kroeger raisin bran, since it has less ingredients, more fiber and less calories--plus it tastes better!!

My hubby and I have been married for 15 years, and our relationship just keeps getting better and better---I wanna be around for 50th wedding anniversary to see how awesome we are then!
