Weight Loss is so healthy!!

I never realized the impact being excessively overweight could have on so many things not just on how I look or my clothes fit. I went to my doc yesterday for pre-op exam.

I am down to 166.6. 29 lbs lost πŸ‘πŸ»

I heard from my doc this morning regarding my blood work yesterday and everything is normal!!! This is the first time in 5 years that everything came back normal. She told me back then that I had a fatty liver. That is also normal now. She said to keep losing weight and that would continue to help my overall health :) I love seeing results from all these steps.

I have learned that you don't need to do killer workouts to lose weight. Just walking each day and moving every hour has helped me lose the weight. I used to do Jillian Michaels and lift weights etc and I still gained. When I got my "bad" report in August, I knew I had to do something. I learned that you don't have to do major exercise each day. Just strive to move 10 minutes each hour. Due to my shoulder and hip, I am very limited in what I can do. I just push for those 10,000 steps. I started with a 2,000 step goal each day and pushed that to 5,000 etc. I kept moving the goal until I reached 10,000 per day. Before my hip went kaput, I was doing 15,000 - 20,000 steps most days.

I moved my hip surgery to May 30th. I can't do much now anyway so I might as well get it done. I think the bathroom remodel will be done this weekend so that will make life easier. I have been very careful about my eating. I eat half of what I have if it is not cooked at home.

Still working on at least 10000 steps each day, but it's not so easy anymore. Just hoping to maintain for the 4 weeks on crutches.

I feel good!!!

    I have been recovering from knee surgery. I started with barely 1500 steps a day but have been increasing by 300 each week. My goal this week is 5000 but I've been averaging closer to 7000.

    I hope the hip surgery went well and you will soon be back to 100%!

    It is definitely eye-opening when you get the numbers on the things that you can't see. I am glad that you have been successful losing. It really is the best motivator when the pounds start coming off.

    You are doing amazing! I'm so glad you found what works for you, and something you enjoy and can maintain long term. I hope the bathroom remodel is done with minimal snags. I know 4 weeks on crutches sounds like forever, but you know how time flies.

    Thank you for being an inspiration to me. I am having a hip replacement on June 7th. I too can't do much. I am discovering that I can put less weight on my hip than I could months ago. I quit wearing my fitbit because my step count was so low and unimpressive, and I didn't think it was worth tracking. Congratulations on your great blood work results and weight loss. Since Jan, I have begun to move more and eat better. I have seen some good results in blood work and how I feel. I was going great guns even with limited leg use, but I hit a low as the hip got a little worse. I'm taking your advice to do what I can even if it is less - right up to surgery. Good luck on the 30th and please let me know how you are recovering. I think I need your positive attitude. emoticon

    Amazing and great to read you loss simply by walking and moving. To much to put here but, many health issues so walking, stretching is basically me. Congrats on your success.πŸŽ‰

    Keep up the good work! Losing weight I'm sure will help with your upcoming surgery. I'm right along with now up to 8000 -10,000 steps per day and that helps me with my goal of staying mobile every hour. Keep up with the good work!
