Maintenance stumbling block

I know I shouldn't be surprised. The past year has been just ridiculous in terms of stress and anxiety.

My SO retired and has been doing at least 80% of the cooking. He's been more mindful of his own eating, so he's tried to make healthier meals most of the time. But he still cooks like a country mama, so why did it surprise me to find that I've gained a few pounds over the past 5 months?!

It's time to take control. He can cook what he likes for himself, and I can even indulge in some tasting, but the majority of my intake needs to go back to being fresh, whole foods and more veggies.

I swear that man would eat only meat, potatoes and cheese if I didn't remind him vegetables exist! emoticon

    I rarely eat what my DH cooks, now that I am eating vegan, almost all of the time.

    Good blog! You'll get things back in order, after the year you've had I think you should not feel bad about any off track experiences that have happened and give yourself time to deal with all the emotions.

    If Clenton cooked for us it'd be fried potatoes and onions in a ton of grease and whole kernel corn swimming in butter, not going to happen.

    Oh, that's one thing I won't have to worry about my DH doing cooking. We'd both perish! LOL

    Sounds like the preferred diet of the average male. Mine would add butter and salad dressing. Sometimes I wonder if he can actually taste the food under all he puts on it.

    Add your veggies and use his as small side dishes.

    I put on a couple pounds when I first started working from home, as my husband always did breakfast and lunch on the weekends, and so started doing the same for me during the week. Nooooooooooo. My breakfasts and lunch during the week were the only meals I had control of previously, and helped balance out his dinner and weekend choices for me. Ugh. I had to wrest back control and put a stop to that, and I took back dinner as long as I was at it.
