Yesterday I took as a rest day, as I haven’t had one for a week, and I wanted to focus on being at the gym as a PT, not for training myself.
I spoke to two ladies who were training together, and I showed them a few ab moves that didn’t involve any kind of crunching.
So many of us think that sit ups and crunches are the only ab exercise!
Anyway, they are both coming back to the gym in a week to take advantage of a free taster session with me.
I also have two set up for today, at least one for tomorrow and one for saturday.
And I was approached by a guy today during my own workout. He is very overweight, which will require me to research how to train someone with those particular needs. I can't just treat him like the average joe, and bang him on a rowing machine for fifteen minutes, then show him some circuits. He will need careful consideration, and I need to know I'm giving him the right advice and care. I gave him my card and told him to text me when he's ready to start. He said it won't be til the end of next week, but hopefully I can help him. This is the real passion for me. If I can help anyone to get results, I will feel amazing.
I have also decided to go for another qualification. “Exercise to music”, which is the group/class certification, meaning I can run a class.
I’ve struggled with the idea of that, because I think I would find it difficult being up in front of a lot of people, along with the practical side to it, like working with the music, remembering everything in sequence etc. But of course, that’s why I’m taking a course, lol.
And on the other side of that, it might actually suit me really well.
It would be less intense, as in me just going through the session, generally watching out for anyone that is struggling so I can call out instructions specifically, but no stops and starts unless it’s genuinely needed.
So yes, that’s my next step.
I feel I will soon have at least one client sign up, which is my first rung in this ladder.
It’s a strange process to try get used to, but once I get going, it will all fall into place.
