For the past couple of months, I've been investing hours of time into completing my final portfolio submissions for the National Board Certification for Teachers. Everything has gone by the wayside: the house is filthy, dinners have been scavenged or eaten out, exercise has been a luxury for those with spare time -- not for those who spend hours on a Sunday at work, finishing this huge project.
Now, it's done.
Yesterday, I posted my final portfolio. It is finished.
I can breathe again.
And now, so much light is shining into my life! I celebrated my posting by going to the grocery store and stocking up on healthy foods: salad makings, yogurt, lean meats, veggies and fruits -- all items that I haven't purchased recently because I knew I would not have the time to plan ahead or prepare real, healthy meals. What a delight it was to buy the big bins of salad and spinach again! To buy fresh foods with the confidence that they will be eaten within days!
I eaten worked out last night, a good 45 minutes on the elliptical at Xperience Fitness. Tonight, I'll be at taekwondo for my usual Monday night workout (the only workout I've been getting lately), but I know that this is just the beginning of my fitness week, not my end.
I've got work to do. I stepped on the scale this morning and grimaced...but then I laughed it off. What does it matter that I've gained nine pounds? Indeed, what does it matter? I've all the time in the world now to take it off!
I welcome the weight-loss struggle ahead. It's going to be a helluva great fight!
