meal plans for single people?

Thursday, April 27, 2017

Yesterday, I checked off the meal plan option, thinking this would be a GREAT way to figure out what to buy and eat. I hate grocery shopping, because I never know what to get and I get overwhelmed and end up crying in the produce section... honestly. But boy, was I wrong! Sparkpeople, I love you, but your meal plan feature has a long way to go for single people.

I'm not going to go out and buy 4oz of apple juice for the week. Who would even sell me four ounces of apple juice? I think the least I can get is 16 at Walgreens for the same price as a full jug. Same with 2 eggs. And most everything on this list.

I get it. These are prepared with families of 4+ in mind, so you're buying 4x the amount (which is reasonable). But for me, a single person on a budget, these meal plans are useless. An ideal meal plan would reuse things from day to day, so I'm not buying a bunch of perishables and then... letting them perish. And going way out of my budget to do so.

Are there any meal plans you can point to that are made with single people in mind? I'm just looking for something reasonable. Not all of us have families to multiply these servings for.
