my darling DS - is learning

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

Good Morning; DS finally going to the dentist. Due to his status with his disability he has dental insurance from Tricare. the dentist office asks him for a down payment of $400 for his share of the bill. He has $3000 of work to be done. He told me all this. He is not used to paying for a dental bill. He had No cavities and perfectly straight teeth when he went into the Army. But he started smoking, chewing tobacco and drinking tons of cokes. His mouth went to He...
I would discuss this behavior with him but he was a soldier and knew better. I have been trying to get him to go the dentist for 3 years. I called up the dentist office and talked with them b/c DS walked out due to embarrassment. My DH & I agreed that we would pay his share b/c his teeth could take his health down fast. With his spinal injury, an infection could set in. We have to be sensitive to DS emotions. I am only to pay his share at each appointment. He has to manage his appointments. I told him that he can do it any way possible but if you do not get your teeth fixed: the next step is pulling them out. He has ten teeth that are really bad. Amazing what the Army behavior does to these young guys b/c they are too immature to realize the consequences. I am going to the gym. I am doing great with my program of losing weight and eating clean. I feel so relieved that DS is actually taking charge of his progress. It has taken so much stress off my back. emoticon

That's great, let's hope the Dentist can 'sort him out'.

Oh boy, that's good that at least he went and I agree with you - dental issues can take the health down quickly, especially in light of situations like your DS with his spinal injury.

HUGS and glad you got to the gym. Relegated to the treadmill today as it's raining . . . supposed to continue most of the day.
