Kicking the Dr Pepper Habit
Monday, April 24, 2017
I want to write just a bit about my experiences with attempting to give up Dr Pepper(not just any soda). Also I'd love to hear what other people are using to kick the habit.
Late last July I was having all kinds of dental issues, infection that wouldn't seem to clear up for several weeks. My general dentist thought crowning the tooth would fix it. Finally in mid-Sept after a tooth cleaning at the perio's offuce in which they told me I would lose two teeth, I made an appointment with my endodontist. He gave one of the two teeth a root canal and no more issues.
However about the last week of August or first week of Sept, the infection had about had it's way with me and most things weren't tasting good including my beloved Dr Pepper.
I more or less had my appetite go off of it for a couple of weeks and now it's no longer a consistent part of my diet. Best thing ever.
I may have one at a place where I'm not sure about their tea or doesn't have lemonade. I also try and get water. However, I hate water.
Ironically I've also discovered one now takes the edge off a migraine if excedrin or aleve doesn't work. I'd much rather have that as an occasional backup than having a daily Dr Pepper or two.
Some weeks I'm not even having one at all. However I've had a terrible time finding something I do like. Things I've discovered I do like in no particular order:
Bai Antioxidant drinks(these have a tiny bit of caffeine)
Core drinks rather difficult to find
One brand of green tea that I can only find one place.
Pure Leaf organic tea, these have less sugar, ironically I don't care for their regular tea
Gold Peak sweet tea(however I'm trying to not have this often because it has a lot of sugar)
BodyArmour Tropical and Blackout Berry
Texas Tea - some of the types and the lemonade
The only water I'm relatively good about drinking is Smart Water.
Curious if anyone else has anything they particularly like that I might try.
If anyone has any ideas I'm willing to try other options!
