Just wondering...

Saturday, April 22, 2017

Ok so I'm in my first big stall. I haven't lost weight since December. I'm ok with that. December was my one year since surgery and including the four months leading to surgery I have lost 220lbs. 408 to 188. What I wasn't prepared for is the amount of insecurity I now have about my appearance. I've never thought I was pretty and still don't, but I was ok with that before. Now I look in the mirror and I don't recognize myself. I look older and like my mom or my sister not me. I don't like how any of my clothes fit and getting dressed now takes forever and I am still unhappy with the results. The weirdest thing is I didn't do this for my looks but for my health, and I was far more self confident beforehand. Not recognizing myself freaks me out. I would still do it all again today knowing what I know now, but has anyone else experienced this?

I can totally relate. I went from 420 to 215 and am experiencing similar feelings. I am currently maintaining per my doctors request so my body has time to rest and my head to catch up.

Your health takes precedent; hang in there, even good changes take time to adjust too. emoticon

HUGS . . . the changes that happen when you lose weight can be difficult to assimilate! Hang in there. Do you have a support group of those who've had bariatric surgery? Maybe that would help. Sending hugs your way.

Loving ourselves is hard sometimes when we've lost weight but our brains didn't keep up. Your journey has been amazing. I am proud of you. Look in the mirror and tell yourself something positive. emoticon

I am a bit amazed when I see a face and not a fat face. I actually have contours and that's so cool to see instead of flabby cheeks and 2 or 3 chins. LOL
