Run Run Rhonda - Blooms to Brews Half Marathon Recap
Wednesday, April 12, 2017
This past week-end I ran a half marathon in Woodland, WA... the "Blooms to Brews". The course was scenic and flat with views of the Columbia River in areas; however no tulips! The weather has been too cool and wet for the tulips to bloom and most likely they will pop in a couple more weeks. There was a chance of rain; but the skies were dry and temps were in high 50's by the time I finished... so really pretty ideal. There were some areas with beautiful daffodils and I enjoyed seeing those. The DH and I took the RV and stayed in a park about 3 miles from the start line. The half started at 7:40am so I didn't have to get up until 6:00am which was a treat. Typically, I have to get up around 5:00am in order to eat, get ready and be at the venue with enough time to get in the porta potty line, etc. A nice relaxing event and this is now the 26th month in a row that I have participated and run at least one half marathon. The streak continues! Next month is the Cinco de Mayo Half in Portland, OR on; you guessed it; May 5th.
I may have asked you this before but with chemo brain, I can't remember...were you always a runner? If not, how did you get started? I'd be happy to do marathons as a walker but committing to getting myself in shape enough has been a struggle. Just wondering how you started, hows you stick to it when life gets in the way, etc. Your blogs about these runs and hikes are so inspirational! 1211 days ago
And the streak continues! Awesome. As usual you look just too cute. Love the blooming tights! The pic of you and your Hubs is adorbs. its so great that you are able to share all of these adventures. Too bad about the tulips, but with this crazy weather I guess you're lucky the daffodils weren't covered in snow. Scenic and flat sounds like my kind of race! I swear, every time I read one of your blogs I feel like jumping up and going out to run! Happy Trails and can't wait to hear about Cinco de Mayo. 1211 days ago
