Today I choose to wrap myself in Gratitude
Sunday, April 09, 2017
Today I am grateful for the brilliant sunshine that bathed our bedroom in light when I opened my eyes this morning. I am grateful that those Eyes could see my DW resting beside me, that when my feet touched and felt the soft carpet on the floor as I stood, my legs strong enough to carry me as I walked with my walkerout into the hallway. Grateful that our home is safe and welcome shelter from the elements. We have plenty of fresh food and water, all the basics as well as many creature comforts to enjoy as we wish.
I am grateful to live in a free country where opinions can be expressed and debated, where people of many different faiths and cultures live side by side in peace for the most part. Grateful for a big and relatively healthy family, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and my mom still living, with cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends to share life's joys and sorrows with.
When I am challenged by fear of the unknown, of loss or other sorrows and stresses, I am grateful to be capable of refousing my attention, of learning and practicing new ways to set my fears aside and open myself to gratitude, to appreciation.
These and many, many more gifts in my life are showered upon me each day and all I need do is accept them, savor the, let their strength take root within me and bring me strength and renewed hope with which to face the day's challenges.
There is not really much different today from yesterday, or the day before... nothing so much as a change in my perspective. Today I choose to wrap myself in the warm empowering presence of gratitude.
