Yesterday's Walk in the Park
Sunday, April 02, 2017
Walked at Tyler State Park with my best buddies yesterday afternoon. We've had quite a bit of rain lately and the Neshaminy Creek was running so high, the footbridge was under water, as you can see in the photos below. Fortunately, the park is huge and there were plenty of other footpaths to explore with lots of hills, water, and trees. There's been an infestation of the ash trees in the park and they've had to cut down hundreds of trees because they want to stop the infestation and prevent a tree coming down on a hiker/biker. The eventual plan is to replant. Even though I'd read about the infestation in my local paper a couple of times, the difference was still shocking and the devastation heartbreaking. Still, the park is beautiful and it's a great place to be with friends and enjoy nature. It's also the perfect place for blessed solitude if that's what the soul requires.

I'm looking forward to seeing this park restored to even greater beauty than before this thing with the trees, just as I hope to help my body rejuvenate itself after my own years of neglect. I'm sure visiting and hiking or riding my bike in this park will inspire me.
