I climb Mount Everest.....well, sorta!
Wednesday, March 29, 2017
Spring break is this week at the local school system. So instead of having regular library classes, I had a "stay-cation" for families that were staying in town.
On Monday, we "climbed" Mount Everest. Some of the activities included:reading stories pertaining to the majestic mountain, talking about what gear they would need and building Mount Everest out of styrofoam cups. It was a blast!
On Tuesday, we visited a "zoo" complete with stuffed animals placed around the library. The zookeeper aka me then told facts about each animal. Of course, I read a few zoo books, and we jumped around like a kangaroo and roared like a lion. We also acted out a few more animal actions. Our snack was animal crackers and we did a monkey and elephant craft.
Today, we learned to "snorkel" in the ocean. I brought in my snorkel gear and showed the kiddos how to put it on and some tips about snorkeling. I brought out my collection of marine life and we discussed each creature. The kiddos squealed with delight when I brought out the sand and dumped it on the table for them to play in. I also had buckets of water and squirt toys with wind-up fish that they could play with. We made several cute crafts and had animal crackers for snacks. Of course, reading was involved!
Tomorrow we will go camping----library style!
So far, having a great week at work!!!! As always!!! I am so blessed!
