Torn meniscus and stage 3 arthritis in knee

So my MRI shows more advanced arthritis in my painful knee than I expected, although I always have known that my knees were "sensitive". My orthopedist is not convinced that the tear is causing my pain rather than the arthritis. So surgery to cut out the tear is not indicated, as meniscus surgery can aggravate arthritis.

I'm glad surgery is not in my near future. I'm thankful that a cortisone shot relieved the debilitating pain almost immediately! Now on to physical therapy and some alternative stuff - supplements, yoga, and maybe Pilates. I'm psyched.

My attitude towards reasonable eating feels strong. Maybe this is my rock bottom. Lightening and shedding of pounds, being respectful of my body, loving myself - all these things seem attainable.

I weighed myself at the ortho office and found I was 11 pounds heavier than I had guessed. I am 231 pounds. I am not proud of that, but I certainly understand how I got there. It is time to put that all behind me.

SparkPeople really makes sense for me - again. I am ready to hold myself accountable for my food/drink consumption by always logging everything I consume and looking at the reports. Blogging makes sense, also. Reading articles and success stories is inspirational and informative.

My hopes are high and I don't think unrealistic.

    Sue, you can do this.

    I have gone off keto (and gained weight) and so am starting a new phase myself. I think keto was great for me for 2+ years to know I could do it. The extreme restrictions and weird other rewards made it doable for me and an almost meditative practice.

    Now I will need to be more mindful without the same severe rules. But I want to be able to eat normally and sensibly but also enjoy regular food carbo items from time to time.

    My bruised coccyx is finally feeling better.
