March 25, 2017 KNOWLEDGE AND TRUTH

It is sad to say but it is getting hard to believe a lot of the things we hear about in this world. We have so much false information through television, radio and the Internet. Some things we read, see or hear get misconstrued or opinionated and the truth is not anywhere in the message. It is smart to verify what we hear from others before we continue on believing what they say is truth. God tells us to strive for truth and knowledge of the truth. We can do that when we choose to read His word, follow Him and live like Jesus.

SCRIPTURE:
Colossians 3:9-10 “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” (NIV)

ACTION STEPS:
1. List what truths you know about God.
2. Write down what lies you need to turn from.
3. Know this world is full of lies and many people can’t be trusted.
4. Know God is full of truth and can always be trusted.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know this world is full of lies. People tell us only what they want us to hear. People stretch the truth. People just flat out lie to get what they way. Help us, Lord, to turn from the ways of the world. Renew us today, Lord, so we are living for You and living in truth. Help us to recognize the lies and confront those who do lie. We want Your truth to come out and we want to live by Your truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
God never lies. If we want to know the truth, we can go to Him.

Despite the lies of this world, we can always go to God’s word for truth.

This world is full of people who want to tell only what is favorable to them rather than the truth.

We are called, as God’s people, to seek the truth and tell the truth.

God’s ways are real and true. When we follow His truths, we are honoring Him.

FOCUS:
Psalm 86:11 “Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.” (NLT)

God wants us to know we can always find the truth when we focus on Him.
