Strong and Lean in 2017 - Outing to Chiricahua National Monument
Wednesday, March 22, 2017
For the past two days, we have camped at the Magic Circle RV Park in Willcox, AZ with our sweet neighbors Caroline and Jack. Today, we did an excursion to Chiricahua National Memorial which is about 35 miles from Willcox. Talk about stunning scenery! The park has fabulous rock formation, columns and balanced rocks. We were at the park last Spring and the road past the visitors center was closed for repairs... so we didn't get to take the 8 mile road tour. There are a number of hikes in the park also; however Caroline is dealing with a lot of pain in her back so hiking is out of the question. After our driving tour through the park, we stopped at a local BBQ place in Willcox for lunch. The restaurant is in an old railroad car that has had an addition built on the side. Very rustic and the food was delicious! An enjoyable outing and we couldn't have asked for better folks to share a camp trip. They have a Mercedes Camper Van which is a lot smaller than our 5th wheel, but they have a real nice set-up and being smaller they can get into campgrounds that are only able to accommodate smaller rigs.
Beautiful pictures...but I have to ask, aren't there snakes to be afraid of out there? The hikes you show remind me of Albuquerque when I visited there for work and I was told to be wary of snakes (one of my greatest fears) so I was curious about these hikes, if snakes are in the area or if they avoid people? 1239 days ago
