Progress Update #7
Tuesday, March 21, 2017
This week has been a tough one. I'm still fighting a cough and sinus issue that has left me short of breath and hacking. Yesterday, hubby took me to the doctor because I seemed to be getting worse instead of better. The doctor didn't like the sound of my cough but my lungs are clear. All of the drainage from my sinus infection is sitting above my lungs, pressing down on them from the top, which is why I am short of breath. She changed my medication to the stronger one (CVS messed it up the last time and I ended up with a different one.) which was what I was supposed to have the last time I was in, ten days ago. She added a strong prescription cough medicine, which I am to take three times per day. The result so far has been much less coughing! Yes!
More good news......
The open wounds on my bottom are finally closed but the hard, swollen areas are still there. They are slowly getting smaller but they are very painful. I will continue to apply warm compresses until they are gone. The wound behind my knee is still an issue but it is slowly healing too. The wound nurse nurse cleaned it and measured it yesterday. It is down a half of a centimeter in length and a quarter of a centimeter in width. It is still weeping, so I have to be careful with it.
Today, the physical therapist came. I walked down the street to the cluster mail boxes and back but I got very winded. That was disappointing. My rescue inhaler took care of the worst of my issues. During my bending and stretching exercises today, my knee bent to 115 degrees. That is close to my maximum since I have a hip replacement too. I may be able to bend to 120 degrees but that might be pushing things.
It was a good day!
