Day 24 of 100 Days of Gratitude

Friday, March 17, 2017

I grateful for a book I'm re-reading:
"The Beck Diet Solution: Train your brain to think Like a thin person". I think it's excellent, but I'd drifted away from ALL the techniques. And reinstating them into my life again.

It's not a diet at all. It's about behavior. Today's assignment highlights the importance of giving yourself credit when you do something right. It feels like bragging, but here goes...

After a stressful meeting, I added a "low fat candy bar" to my late night purchase of strawberries at the grocery store. The candy bar rode the moving belt all the way to the cashier before I snatched it off and put it back on that dreadfully tempting shelf of candy bars and turned my back on it. Whew...that was a really close one. Six weeks ago, I couldn't get out of a grocery store without a candy bar. I've been candy bar free, but never gave myself credit for it. Thank you, author and Cognitive Therapist Judith Beck, Ph.D.
