BETTER SLEEP CHALLENGE Blog

We are suppose to journal about our sleep habits on our blogs. Or in a journal I suppose. I am having quite the bad attitude about it, which may explain why I am not adjusting to daylight savings. I am going to date my entries and just add each night to this blog so I don't have a string of little sleep blogs.
Here goes with the boring drivel:
March 15 (Ides of March) Last night did not get to sleep before 1:30am. Watched a couple movies, ate too much, then read till I got tired. Woke about 9:30am this morning. Ate better all day. Walked 10K steps, paid the bills due at end of month. Cleaned house. Socialized and was quite happy till I had to journal. Hopefully, I will get a good nights sleep and a better attitude. It is 10:30PM. Shutting computer down now and switching to book.
March 16: Asleep by midnight. Rolled over a couple times, Buddy woke me at 4AM to go out. DIL texted me, (she works early shift) I love the texts and usually silence my phone at night. Glad I was already awake. I silenced the phone. Took an hour or so to fall back to sleep. My back and shoulder both hurt. Neither Buddy nor I could get comfortable. Poor dog. I think my restlessness is harder on him. Woke at 8:30 feeling pretty good. Much better attitude from last night. It occurred to me that I could also write my Lenten blessings entries here too.
Blessings: Sunshine, a good car to drive to beach, warm dog that will wake me if I quit breathing at night, best DIL anyone could ask for, painting class for fun tonight.
March 17: Asleep by 11:45 and up at 9:30am this morning. I used a large blue ice pack on my shoulder every time I woke. It helped. I did not have to get up at all for dog, phone or myself. Thank goodness. Unfortunately, shoulder really hurt at yoga, so babied it. I don't think it likes paint classes.
Blessings: Painting with GKs, Mom's 103rd birthday today if she were still alive (be a light). Lunch with a friend, Yoga.
March 18: Asleep 11:00 , up 8:30, arm and shoulder hurt a lot. Lots of waking. Did not get up.
Blessings: walk with Buddy, able to help DD while she is sick and she appreciated it, good food, new Sharpies and paper to play with.
March 19: asleep 11:30 up 9:30, took ibuprofen before bed, shoulder less painful, but had to get up to use restroom. Bud woke me scratching himself a couple times. Time to get the brewers yeast back in his diet.
Blessings: walk on island, affording simple extras like brewers yeast for Bud's skin, paint classes, appreciating my art.
March 20, 21, 22, 23: My sleep has not been the best this week. Most nights I have gotten to sleep around 1:30. Last night however, I read till 4:00 AM and of course the phone woke me at 7:30. I did manage to get some more sleep or rest till 10 AM. I have felt awful all day. The brain is sluggish and I burned myself. I feel weak. I took an hours nap at 7 PM tonight and of course now at 11:30 PM I am wide awake. I am going to shut the computer down and read a little while listening to some sleepytime meditation music and hopefully have a better nights sleep.
Blessings: National Puppy Day: Honoring Buddy. Also FRST for the scalding burn I received. That stuff works like gold and is no longer on the market. Long story. Just glad I still have some.
March 24, 25, 26: Back on track and last night I had a really good sleep. No ibuprofen. I put magnesium oil on the shoulder and took some MSM (sulphur) in one of my drinks. Yes, the injured part still hurt, but no radiating pain. It was such a blessed relief.
Blessings: MSM and the article on Facebook that made me remember it. Walking Buddy at Trojan without a soul in sight. No food cravings. Able to eat healthy without mind obsessing about unhealthy foods.
March 27 - April 2: Most nights I am asleep by 11 or 11:30. Tried newer cpap mask again. Warred with it both nights, especially the first. Straps slide and the velcro releases. If the mask is tight against my face, I can't inhale, so it has to be "just right" in the Goldilocks zone, but despite that I woke feeling good. Spring allergies are raging, but the good thing about the cpap is the filtered air. I don't have to sleep with the sniffles and sneezes. Heading out for a long walk.
Blessings: Cpap for keeping the nighttime air pollen free and sunshine for the long walk I am planning.
