Working on Behaviors

I have been achieving my mini-goal I set last month. Have lost a pound a week. This month I am adding one more mini-goal - be mindful of my behavior when faced with an obstacle, worry or stressful situation and check what I do to confront it. An example... yesterday I had my haircut and had lots of errands, including buying groceries. When I got to the grocery store I felt the beginnings of......something. I couldn't tell if it was hunger or thirst. I had forgotten to take a bottle of water with me. I decided my behavior would be to NOT buy the things I could buy but didn't need and knew I would regret later. I decided I would wait until I got home and drink a big glass of water to see if that would take care of it. It did! It was also a day scheduled for lighter exercise. I had scheduled myself to do a Tai Chi DVD and a 50 minute stretch routine with yoga included. I also was to do some core exercises. So I knew I needed to make sure I stayed in my calorie range. Tasks completed and behaviors worked! I felt good at the end of the day....and that was my reward.
