Savoring A Dear Compliment

Compliments can be truly motivating. One of my SP friend suggested that I write down compliments about my weight loss to re-read for motivation after the compliments diminish and everyone just thinks of me as a normal weight person. I have some good ones recorded, like the MRI technician saying, "you are so small, you will have a lot of room in there." Who, me?? Yes, me! And one person did give me an incredible, thoughtful compliment, when she saw me for the first time in 6 years. She said, "You've really kept your weight off. Why, this is who you are now." Yes! It's me.
Yesterday I got a different kind of compliment, one that brought tears to my eyes, one I want to savor. When my daughter came to pick up the kids after she got off work, she asked 6 year old Gwen if she wanted to take her two baby dolls home. She told her mom, "No. Leave them here. OldMom (me) will take good care of them just likes she takes good care of me!" How touching. Yes, there are things in my life beyond meal planning and running. There are things that matter a lot, but that eating and moving make it possible. Being fit and energetic helps me live a blessed life and to help others, including my family!
