First, the bad . . .
I'm fairly certain I'm getting sick with some sort of upper respiratory crud. I had it over Christmas and it took 2 weeks to get rid of it. I keep telling myself I refuse to get sick and I won't get sick, but, so far, today, my body doesn't seem to be paying attention.
Now for the good (and it's REALLY good) . . .
I ordered my new bike today. It's a KHS Vitamin B Fitness Bike. This is what it will look like (before all my little accessories are added):
I'm adding a "computer" (that's what we called a speedometer back in the day), a cell phone holder, a water bottle cage, and a pannier for over the rear wheel that will carry my new bike bag which I got for for longer trips or running errands around town.
This is a road bike that should ride like the wind, but I wanted to be able to ride the occasional unpaved path, like the one along the Lehigh River I mentioned yesterday, so they're changing the wheels out for me for ones that are slightly thicker. They won't be real thick mountain bike wheels though, so I won't be able to pull wheelies or jump with it.
My best friend, DoItDottie, came with me to the bike shop and she ordered one, too, so I have a cycling buddy. Both bikes should be ready for us in about a week.
We've already been online to watch videos about how to use the gears properly. My current ride is a 7-speed. The new one is a 21, so I figure I better learn how to work all those gears before I go flying down my favorite hill and cause myself serious bodily injury.r
So, I hope, if Old Man Winter must reappear, it will only be for a brief visit because I've got riding to do!
