NSV I am an Active Person

Friday, February 24, 2017

I certainly wouldn't have made that statement 6 months ago. I used to lounge around until around 10 when I would start work for the day. Then, I would spend a lot of my day at the computer. Once in a while, I would get myself to the gym, do Leslie Sansone, Walk it Out or get on the treadmill. My exercise was about 45 minutes a day. I would get about 4 - 6,000 steps a day on the days I went to the Y.

I did ride once or twice a week, but I had absolutely no stamina and my balance was way off. I did pilates once or twice a week too. I guess I was active, but not like I am now.

It didn't dawn on me how active I have become until a couple days ago. I had a cervical epidural and my doc was worried that I may start leaking spinal fluid. So, he said I had to lay for 2 days. What??? Me lay??? NO.... I have a new routine

I am out of bed by 8 every morning and I am out walking. I try to get at least 4,000 steps and 30 minutes in by 9 at the very latest. Throughout the day, I try to walk for 2 hours and at least (the very least) 10,000 steps. Most days I exceed 10,000 and get to 14,000 or more.

I am now able to ride two horses when I go to the barn. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do a lot of that this winter. At least it hasn't seemed like it to my, but my trainer said I have ridden more this winter than any other. She is amazed at how good my stamina is. I am barely breaking a sweat from riding.

Needless to say, I didn't do well with the stay in bed thing. I took it easy yesterday and only got 7500 steps or so.

It was when I was walking this morning that I realized that I am an active person. I am always walking and moving now instead of sitting. I went to have a shirt made and they told me I have lost 3 inches off my waist since I had my riding suit made.

I am one lb away from being in the 160's and it seems to be taking forever. In September, I was 195 so I am not complaining.

I feel so much better getting out and walking every day. I will do snow and heat, but I do not like the rain and freezing rain emoticon

By the way, I never got the spinal headache emoticon

    That's great!!
I don't know if this doctor did you last shot or no but the headache is related to the skill of the dr and the placement of the needle.
    Hope u feel better.

My mother seems to think that riding a horse is aerobic exercise. It is exercise, but it is not aerobic! Good for you for increasing your activity.
