Haven't Given Up

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

I haven't blogged here since April of 2016 but I haven't given up working on a healthier lifestyle. The good news is I started of 2017 weighing less than last year. Any past attempts and failures are null and void. I am currently working on healthier eating. I am focused on low fat whole food plant based eating. It works for me. I have to remember, at this point with getting back on track, it's about progress not perfection. Perhaps I'll perfect my eating later where I can be proud of all of my choices but for now, I honor my attempts at just making the dietary changes that will improve my health.

I think I've been mostly on the right track lately. I just need to phase out the cheats and detours that delay my health. I find that each cheat or detour is an opportunity to learn more about my behaviors and how to change them. It can be hard to teach an old dog new tricks - that would be new healthy food behaviors to myself after so many years of addiction to fast food. I think over the years that I've underestimated just how strong my addiction to unhealthy fast foods can control me. Staying away from fast food places alone will make such a big difference.

I know so much about healthy eating from years of diet attempts and nutrition documentaries and books. However, putting those things into daily practice has not happened. I get frustrated because I know what to do to be healthy. Many times it just seemed so much easier to slip back into the unhealthy habits. So now this is what me and hubby are focused on achieving. I asked him for serious help this time....and I apologized in advance for the back talk and attitudes he may be getting from me because he's coming between me and my food cravings. Poor guy - pray for him. He said he has tough skin and can handle it. emoticon

I certainly hope I'm writing a completely different blog in 2018 - one of success. The bathroom scale and my goal finally complete and a normal part of life.

So I'm still believing that emoticon

Never give up is a great attitude!

I found once I stopped eating fast food because I became vegetarian, that the taste of fast food (like McDonalds) was very unappealing. Took me about 3 months of change for that to happen. And I agree with WHYNOTSOON, You Can DO It!
